Britons have been given a glimmer of hope of some winter sun after three popular holiday destinations were taken off the UK's quarantine list.
Travellers returning to the UK from the Canary Islands, Mykonos and the Maldives from 4am on Sunday will no longer need to self-isolate for two weeks, the transport secretary announced.
Denmark has also been added to the Government's travel corridor list, but quarantine restrictions will be placed on Lichtenstein, Grant Shapps said.
The easing of restrictions will come as welcome news for the beleaguered tourism industry. Andrew Flintham, managing director of Tui UK & Ireland, said the reintroduction of the Canary Islands to the travel corridor list was a “positive step” for both the business and holidaymakers seeking a winter break.
