Faxe Kalkbrud /Limestone Quarry, Denmark

This gigantic limestone quarry only about 80 km from Copenhagen with a nice geological museum takes you back some 63 million years. Then Denmark, which did not exist as a state, of course, was the home of other creatures than today, such as big sharks, octopuses, sea urchins and many others.
You are welcome to look for fossils in the open quarry and take them home with you if you like. Geomuseum Faxe can help you determine your finds.
In the quarry there are some lakes with bright, azure water, where people may swim – at their own responsibility.
