Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says the federal government didn’t want to reward the Palaszczuk government for having closed borders with the announcement of a tourism package.
The Morrison government on Thursday announced 800,000 discounted airline tickets will be made available as part of the federal government’s $1.2 billion support package.
“Those who were most affected were particularly in North Queensland,” Mr Greenwood said.
“At the same time they didn’t want to punish those businesses.
“This package today really does allow more people to go to many of those tourism destinations.”
