► It's time for a quick glance, and a last farewell to the 105 years old Hua Lamphong Station in Bangkok. It's bound to be closed later this year, in favor of the huge and ultra modern Bang Sue Grand Station (more about that in a coming video).

One could say, after being the opening in 1916 (in Italian Neo Renaissance style) , Hua Lamphong station was already outdated after World War 2, and the same goes for their trains, latest delivery was in the late 90's. Hua Lamphong may be old and obsolete, but it has a charm and personality of its own, which brand new buildings of glass and steel lacks.

Fun fact : The first line operated in Thailand - a tram line - was constructed in collaboration between SRT (Thai Railways) and DSB (Danish Railways), and the collaboration resulted in Thailand getting street trams before Denmark.

A lot of travelers and tourists, will have fond memories, taking the overnight sleeper trains to northern and eastern Thailand. Walking into the station building feels like traveling in time.

RIP Hua Lamphong. "Next stop" at the soon-to-open Bang Sue Grand Station terminal, where high speed trains will take you the 800 kilometres to Chiang Mai in a matter of 3h15minutes, instead of the current 10-11 hours.
