Is Gdansk, Poland Worth Visiting? (Poland's Baltic Coast is one of Europe's hidden treasures) ??????

I'd be lying if I'd claim to have thought of Gdansk before this trip. In fact, I could probably count on one hand the number of times this city has crossed my mind. As a minor European city, I wouldn't blame you for being as neglectful as I was.

This city is an absolute gem - and yes, it's worth visiting!

Hugging Poland's northern Baltic coast, the charming city of Gdansk (Danzig, for those WWII buffs) is not to be missed. Boasting one of the most charming historic centers in Europe, its Old Town will bring your right back to the Europe of the 15th and 16th century. This diminutive coastal city packs a punch with its myriad of cobblestone alleys, red brick cathedrals, historic mills, and its jaw-dropping Ratusz (Town Hall) and adjacent Neptune's fountain. Add in an array of Amsterdam-esque canals that criss cross the city center, and you have one of Europe's finest Baltic cities.

The vibe here is almost Scandinavian, with echoes of Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden around every turn. Though, costs in this city are but a pittance compared to its Scandinavian counterparts. Prices here are as cheap as Mexico (no joke), if not cheaper! If you ever have the opportunity and the means, put Gdansk on the top of your travel shortlist. You will not be disappointed!
