Future Trends in NW Tourism

The tourism economy has been heavily hit by the coronavirus pandemic, and measures introduced to contain its spread. Depending on the duration of the crisis, revised scenarios indicate that the potential shock could range between a 60-80% decline in the international tourism economy in 2020.

Beyond immediate measures to support the tourism sector, countries are also shifting to develop recovery measures. These include considerations on lifting travel restrictions, restoring traveller confidence and rethinking the tourism sector for the future.

What is the tourism sector going to look like in the coming months and how will this impact on our local heritage and cultural venues. What are the opportunities that will come to the fore?

Through this session, we’ll look at how cultural venues are adapting to the challenges and developing ways to increase their reach.

We’ll hear from Ciaran Doherty -Tourism Ireland, Adrian Kelly - Glebe House & Gallery and Adrian Kerr - Museum of Free Derry
