On 31 July 2019, I travelled to Denmark in Europe.
The first stop in Denmark is The Little Mermaid. A few hundred meters away from the fort and along the long causeway is the bronze statue of mermaid. Many tourists take photos there. I have seen many other people's travel notes before that the mermaid sculpture is probably the most disappointing scenic spot in Copenhagen, but I think it is very beautiful. It shows a kind of elegant and melancholy beauty under the sun setting. In the past 100 years, it has experienced the merciless beating of the sea water on the granite on the coast, just to see her beloved prince, but never return to her hometown. My tour guide told me that it's better to enjoy The Little Mermaid from afar. Message is simple: "Don't touch it, be kind to her."
Few hours later, I had a tour around New Harbour in Copenhagen. At first sight, it was really beautiful and suitable for taking photos. There were restaurants under the house. Many people were drinking tea and chatting outside. It's said that this is the favorite place for Danes. They drink afternoon tea in the summer sun and get together with friends and family. It's really wonderful. Even the king of Denmark likes to live in Newport. The boat in the middle of the river is free with Copenhagen card. At the opposite is No. 20 house where Hans Christian Andersen once lived in. In fact, it is the house that Andersen took in his master when he was studying in Copenhagen. If you have heard about Andersen's very bumpy life, you will know why the ending of his story is always sad and beautiful. In fact, it is the reflection of his life.
Few hours later, I had a tour around Amalienborg Slot. This is the living castle of Queen Margaret II of Denmark, guarded by the royal guards of Denmark. It is said that Marguerite II is not only a very people-friendly queen, but also versatile. She is a very excellent painter, translator and archaeologist, deeply loved by the Danish people, and the highest symbol of Danish rights. Because of the people-friendly rule of the Danish royal family, the Danish monarchy has been preserved until now.
I must say that this was a pleasant experience to travel to Denmark in Europe for the first time.
