Korea is decorated in paper lanterns for Buddha's birthday, and we visited the famous Bongeunsa Temple here in Seoul to enjoy the chill atmosphere and spring weather ????

Bongeunsa Temple was founded in the year 794 (!!!) by Yeon-hoe, the highest ranking monk of Silla, and was originally named Gyeonseongsa. Today, work is being done to preserve the original buildings, but many are off-limits to civilians and plenty are losing their deep, beautiful paint colors to time. The Temple is still in full operation, of course, with monks who go about their dailies duties with other devoted Buddhists in prayer.

Bongeunsa Temple also has a Temple Stay program, where you can stay overnight on the property and experience what a day/night in the life of a Korean Buddhist monk looks like! You wear the clothes, eat the food, and sleep over. I've never done one before, but would definitely be willing!

For those who are new, I am American, and my husband Andy is Korean. We met in 2016 while I was studying abroad in Seoul at Ewha Womans University, then embarked on a 2 year long distance relationship journey! We were reunited permanently in August 2018, and officially moved in together February 2019.

We were officially married in July 2019, and are having our first wedding in October of 2020!

We are here to humbly share our lives with others - we hope you enjoy the journey ????
