What is the first thing that pops into our memory when we think about Australia?
Yes, the hallmark Sydney Opera house.
Today we are going to learn some interesting facts about the house that attracts millions of tourists.
It was the brainchild of an architect from Denmark named John Utzon in the year 1957. This is what we see now as Opera.
In 1957, a sample design was drawn and in 1959 they started constructing Opera. But in the year 1966 Jorn Utzon quit his job.
Later in 1973, the construction was completed with the help of other artists. And the building was inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth 2 on 20 October 1973.
The Sydney Opera House is a music venue with seating for two thousand people.
Opera House is one of Australia’s most prominent landmarks and it attracts more than 7 million people a year.
Opera House is also one of the traditional icons of UNESCO. It has several halls which are managed by the New South Wales State government.
In a year, around 3 thousand concerts are performed by various world-famous artists in this building. And nearly 2 million fans witness these events.
The Opera House is open for the public to visit from 9 am to 5 pm every day
