It’s Easter so we went to visit the ‘olds in the Tanat Valley, Wales UK. I grew up here so I was really excited about taking the Phantom 4 to see what it looked like on the DJI’s great camera from 120m and it didn’t disappoint.
Even though we have Google Maps now with its satellite view, the P4 allowed us to get much closer at much higher resolution - I didn’t realise the shape of things from the air such as the footprint of my mum&dads farm.
Couple of things of interest here for other drone enthusiasts - I didn’t put on one of the propellers properly and at the 3min mark you can see it fly off (luckily without the drone). Only mild cosmetic damage to one of the motors paint work but I won’t make the same mistake again. Also not sure how the Obsticle Avoidance system works if you are manually flying it (pitch) forwards.
Also featuring dogs, birds and a soup maker.
We really recommend the Tanat Valley as a place to visit. IT has a very distinct and gentle geology which sets it apart from other valleys, and it’s very close to the border with Wales, close to Oswestry and Shrewsbury. There’s great places to stay and a few camping places too. We recommend particularly basing yourself near to Llanrhaeadr where there is a waterfall. If you’re on a driving holiday you can follow the valley up from the A483/A495 you can head all the way up the floor of the valley to Llangynog and up over the Berwyn hills through to Bala and then onwards to Trawsfynydd and further reach the coast on the Lleyn Peninsula, all within a little over 2 hours.
