Number 1: Now Europe includes 51 independent states. Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey are transcontinental countries, partially located in both Europe and Asia. Armenia and Cyprus politically are considered European countries, though geographically they are located in the West Asia territory. 27 of them are part of the european union.
Number 2: There are more than 200 languages spoken in Europe. With dozens of unique cultures and countries across Europe, there are over 200 languages spoken on the continent, although only 24 are recognised as the official languages of the European Union.
Number 3: The Kingdom of Denmark is the oldest monarchy in Europe. Founded in 935 by Viking kings Gorm the Old and Harald Bluetooth, the Danish Monarchy has been ruling Denmark for over 1,000 years. From Gorm the Old to the current Queen Margrethe II, this royal family is the oldest in all of Europe.
Number 4: La Sagrada Familia is taking longer to build than the pyramids. La Sagrada Familia is taking longer to build than the pyramids. La Sagrada Familia has been under construction for the past 138 years.
Number 5: Of the British Museum's Collection, Only 1% Is on Display. The British Museum's collection is so great — 8 million items of art and antiquities — that it cannot showcase all the pieces. With room for just 80,000 objects to be displayed, you are only seeing one percent of the collection when you visit this London museum.
Number 6: Germany's Famous Oktoberfest. When Prince Ludwig married in October 1810, he threw a party and invited all Bavarians to join in the celebration. The party became an annual event known simply as Oktoberfest.
Number 7: Norway has the longest coastline in Europe. Made up of stunning fjords, rugged islands and windswept rocky shores, Norway’s coastline is the longest in Europe and the second-longest in the world (after Canada). It’s over 100,000 kilometres long.
Number 8: Rainforest in Europe, there is one last remaining rainforest in Europe, Found in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Perućica Rainforest is a tentative UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most precious green lungs in Europe.
Number 9: Greece is home to 18 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. 16 of these sites are based on cultural criteria such as the Temple of Apollo, the Acropolis of Athens, and the Medieval City of Rhodes. The last 2 (Mount Athos and Meteora), are considered to be heritage sites for their cultural and natural significance!
Number 10: The Alps,The Alps are the highest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe, stretching approximately 1,200 km (750 mi) across eight Alpine countries. The Mont Blanc spans the French–Italian border, and at 4,809 m (15,778 ft)it is the highest mountain in the Alps.
