A few days back I took a neocar to the erstwhile Danish Colony, Serampore, only an hour drive from Kolkata!
.
We parked near the Denmark Tavern, This riverside colonial inn dating from 1786 has recently been converted into a cafe/restaurant.
.
Then we took a stroll around the compound of The Department of Information & Cultural Affairs.
.
We also visit St. Olav's Church, which was built in 1806, today it remains as one of the most significant relics of the time when Serampore was under Danish management.
.
Lastly, we went back to The Denmark Tavern in order to catch our breath before heading back home! Being comfortably seated in their lawn, we took some photos, all the while sipping on some hot coffee from an outlet of Flurrys!
.
Wish the times were normal and we could further explore this historic town, a confluence of the trio of Danish, British and Bengali culture! Nevertheless, time spent travelling is always enriching and never wasted..
