Course description: Tucked away in the North Atlantic Ocean, somewhere between Iceland, Norway and Scotland, lie the isolated Faroe Islands, a magnificent archipelago of 18 mountainous islands rich in culture, legend and hiking paths. During this week-long adventure, we will travel where waterfalls plunge into the ocean, among solitary cliffs, basalt sea stacks, turf-roofed cottages and sea bird colonies all while becoming stronger, safer and more mindful hikers. Participants must plan on being active for six hours a day. Classes: Aug. 5 and Sept. 23 (6 to 7:50 p.m.). Field Study: Aug. 24 to 31, 2019. Fee: $3,840 (includes air/water/ground transportation, hotel lodging, admissions and some meals). Tuition is extra. Information: Gib Egge, (630) 942-2787, email: eggegi@cod.edu.
