Private plane-rides, dutch sightseeing and triple flips with friends - my summer of 2017 had it all. Accordingly it would turn out to be my biggest video project yet.
Wanting to be like Sam Kolder, I spent night and day editing for weeks on end, turning down offers to go out or chill because I wanted to have the video finished before starting high school. Looking back on it, I was probably just anxious to make a good first impression on my new classmates and imagined that I wouldn't be as dependent on doing so in person if the video could do it for me.
Upon finishing the video I remember feeling the most exhausted, burnt out and proud of a project I have ever been to this date.
This was also the year where I first bought my own DSLR, a Nikon d5300, and began playing with interchangeable lenses. I stopped using Premiere and moved over to doing the entire video in After Effects. I began doing my own color grading, learned the principles of camera movement, flow and match cuts and started to explore the world of sound design.
