Mr. Henry Tillman, Founder and Chairman of China Investment Research, U.K. presented the case of the incredible success of the Health Silk Road in the past year and half in the second panel of the April 28 webinar organized by the The Belt and Road Institute in Sweden, in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan and the Embassy of The Peoples’ Republic of China.

The subject of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its implications for the economic development of Pakistan, for international investors, and the surrounding region and the world. Diplomats, investment authority officials, business representatives, and economic and strategic experts from Pakistan, China, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Italy, and the U.K. spoke in this 5-hour long extraordinary webinar. 149 participants from as many as 10 countries were in attendance.

The second session hosted European and international experts to discuss the BRI in the larger context. Given the tense international strategic situation, it is very important to identify the points of agreement among East and West, especially the goals of economic cooperation, trade, and elimination of poverty and development. These being common goals of mankind, it is necessary to provide factual and objective knowledge of the nature of the BRI and why it is the best model to built a mechanism of cooperation and dialog among all nations. The idea of win-win cooperation is not a political slogan or gimmick. It is a provable economic and scientific method. The precedent for this notion is built on the nation of each nation thinking about “the advantage of the other” as stipulated in the Peace of Westphalia treaty (1648), which ended the terrible 30-Years War. To achieve peace, stability, and prosperity, it is important for each nation to look beyond its own narrow interests. To establish “a community of a shared future for mankind” as expressed by President Xi Jinping, it is necessary today, especially with the global crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic, to find the common ground for dialog and cooperation among all nations.
