Police cleared out a hotel in Olympia, Washington, on Monday, after it was allegedly occupied by homeless activists.

A large group of officers from the police department were seen arriving and cordoning the street outside the Red Lion Hotel in downtown Olympia.

A mother and her children were seen being removed from the hotel. Later, officers were seen carrying a stretcher inside the building.

At least seven people were detained by the police, who were called on site by people inside the hotel to report that a group was 'forcibly' taking over the place.

The activist group is Oly Housing Now (OHN), "a coalition of Olympia residents working to end homelessness" and supporting 'direct action' to fulfil its goals, according to a press release on the group's Facebook and Twitter accounts. Members said that the hotel was used for 'emergency pandemic housing.'
