The Champions League is set for a major overhaul in 2024. The new format would increase the number of teams to 36 and add an extra 100 games to the schedule. A new league format for the initial stage of the competition could favor the richer clubs, and there is even talk that bigger clubs who miss out through traditional qualification could still be assured a seat at the table. Is this a positive change for the Champions League? Or will it just serve the richer clubs and increase inequality in football?
